The role of the traditional trainer was to force-feed knowledge to trainees and jam-pack their brains with information. There was no importance given to participant involvement, feedback and meaningful connection to the training environment. There was difficulty in judging the learners’ level of understanding and no importance was given to their preferred learning style due to which there was a difficulty in judging the speed and efficiency of the learners.

The role of the trainer has now evolved to enhance participant involvement. The trainers ignite trainee interest in the subject by boosting the trainees’ self-confidence and ability to master the subject right at the start of the program by:

  • Selecting only the interesting elements of a subject and starting by unveiling them to trainees.
  • Soliciting information about the subject from trainees and testing their basic subject knowledge.
  • Providing the trainees with a skeleton of the subject and sowing the seeds of interaction.
